It was so great to get to talk to Rachel Snack for Episode 5 of the podcast. Rachel is the designer and weaver behind Weaver House Co, and the Creative Director at Harrisville Designs. She has a BFA in Fiber & Material Studies from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Masters of Science in Textile Design from Philadelphia University. In this conversation we discuss what it's like to work as the Creative Director at a historic yarn mill, her experience working for a weaving cooperative in Peru, her advice for new weavers, and so much more. Another very enjoyable interview. As a weaver from the “in between generation” – after the 1970s and before the current interest – who wove mostly alone with no internet, it is so great to see and be a part of this current community of weavers. It is also great that Harrisville, a very traditional place, has hired Rachel Snack to bring youth and energy to their company.
