 Deflected Doubleweave Towels

Designed by Elisabeth (Lisa) Hill, adapted and woven by Christine Jablonski

Deflected Doubleweave is a magical structure that infuses depth and drama into the simplest threading and easy-to-learn treadling. The combination of this float-rich weave with Duet’s soft cotton bound by fine linen makes these towels soft, thick and absorbent in a stylized, graphic, yet timeless design.  This project is most vibrant when woven  with high-contrast colors. Pattern includes a Countermarch skeleton tie-up. Order a kit.

Getting the Gist Improves My Weaving

As a beginning weaver, I am always glad to be getting the Gist newsletter. Gist sends inspirational project information and the kits to provide the materials and instructions that can help me improve my weaving knowledge and skills. Thanks, Gist!

Really an attractive pattern and fun to see it unfold.

beautiful

Beautiful, simple, stunning pattern. I have a countermarche loom so I had to convert this pattern to avoid the two-foot treadling. I love the simplicity of the design.

Good Intro to Deflected Doubleweave

Gist patterns are always easy to use, and I enjoy them when I’m trying to learn a new weave structure. This was great for a first try at deflected double weave, and the towels are really nice too. The video about selvedge that was linked with this was also helpful!
