Magic Dance Runner

Designed by Carly Jayne, adapted for rigid heddle looms from a draft by Erica de Ruiter titled,  Magic Step.

This innovative weave structure combines Log Cabin with Cramming and Denting in the reed. The number of ends in the warp are mirrored by the number of picks woven in each shed, which creates the illusion of thick and thin lines interlaced throughout the pattern. By weaving this table runner with a cotton and linen slub yarn, the linear blocks are softened for a rustic aesthetic. Order a kit.

Lovely result

I found the writing of the pattern needing some editing, but the resulting runner is quite lovely. I bought a kit with Duet and the yarn is perfect for this item. I will be using the pattern again, and buying more Duet for other projects too.

Holiday Magic Dance Runner

Fun draft to weave. Adapted for Xmas with 5/2 cotton and some glitz. Probably screwed up the weft color order in spots but who cares. Love it.

Warping Question

I'm excited to try this pattern, which will definitely stretch my skills! I'll be direct warping a rigid heddle loom. The notes say that the first two and last two warp ends should be sleyed as a pair in a slot.
But the direct warping chart seems to show the last two warp ends on the right as going in a hole. Can you help clear up my confusion? Many thanks.

this looks so beautiful!

I'm very much looking forward to weaving this beautiful project and I have a comment about the width in reed. For those of us who neglected to math it out ahead of time, please note that the 16.4 width in reed is with a 7.5 dent reed. An 8 dent reed gives only 15.375 width. So don't make yourself crazy by checking your threading three times trying to find your mistake! It's all about the math. Always.

I really enjoyed this weave

I really enjoy the look of this project, so much so that I plan to weave placemats to go with it!
