Bridgetown Scarf

Designed by Carly Jayne

Yes, you can weave Deflected Doubleweave on a rigid heddle loom! Woven in Sero Silk Noil and Mallo Cotton Slub, this scarf is cloud-soft, comfortable for all seasons, and will brighten any dreary day. The design suggested bridges over blue water, so it was named for the rainy city of Portland, which has twelve bridges spanning the Willamette River. Order a kit.

Please note: This is not a beginner project. If you have never woven with two heddles before, we suggest starting with the Doublewidth Shawl or the Twofold collection to learn the basics of threading and weaving Doubleweave. Also, this project uses almost all of the Sero Silk Noil. If your loom requires more than 20" of waste, please purchase an additional cone.

It’s great that Gist is doing more with multiple heddles for rigid loom weavers. The directions were a bit confusing, but the differential shrinkage of Mallo and Sero made for an interesting effect.
