The size of the color samples and the fact that the color samples are on separate cards makes the Pallette Scout a huge improvement on a color wheel. I can try, and easily see, different hue/shade/tone and tint combinations. The Pallette Scout is great for those knowledgeable about color theory, and the clearly written instructions about how to use the cards, and what they represent, allow those new to color theory a great chance to learn and experiment. This is a great addition to my toolbox.
This is a really fun way to learn about color, beyond the color wheel. I’m getting a deeper understanding of tones, shades and tints, and expanding my color imagination. The more I play with it, the more I see. And I love that the names of the colors are alphabetically arranged — so clever! The photo shows a color palette that I am working on.
It has helped me understand better about colours.
I sometimes hit it out of the park with color combos and sometimes fall short. I understand color theory but have a difficult time seeing it in the abstract; I need to hold colors and manipulate them. Palette Scout has been a great way to do that BEFORE I paint the wall or knit the project, etc. I am just getting into playing with it but I’ve already seen some mistakes I’ve been making and ways to improve my choices.
I just received my palette scout and after taking the brief course, realized the possibilities it will open up for my weaving. I sometimes struggle with colour choices for my projects, and this will really simplify things and give me confidence that I am picking compatible colours to weave with. I’m going to love it!!,
