 Droppdräll Towel

Designed by Arianna E. Funk, adapted and woven by Christine Jablonski

First published in January 2019, the Droppdräll Towel by Arianna Funk has been a long-time customer favorite. In 2021 it was updated and adapted to be woven with our Mallo Cotton Slub yarn, and has now been modified to a slightly narrower width designed to accommodate table looms, and to weave a longer towel with less yarn. Straightforward pattern with luxury results

Great pattern, easy to follow. As a new weaver the only part I found intimidating was changing my tie-up. I wasn't sure about making a full size bath towel as written so I reduced the warp to 18" in the reed and made 4 hand towels. So glad I ordered the recommended yarns; Mallo is genuinely luscious. Will be making more with this droppdrall technique and yarns!

Intriguing Design!

I really am enjoying making this design. I changed the dimensions a little, but kept everything else the same. Using a white slub cotton as warp and a blue slub cotton as weft. It’s looking great, thank you for such an inspiring pattern!

Unexpected results

I adjusted the width to weave squares for a quilt and used a variety of weft colours and types - 8/2 cotton and cotton boucle, sock yarn and linen with Icelandic lopi floats. Best draft ever !

Nice, easy

I made a total of 4 towels, playing with the pattern each time, varying the size of the sections, including more colours. I adjusted the draft to use with 4/8 cotton . It was easy to adapt.
The only thing I don't like about it, is that the back is not very attractive.
